How It Works

Begin by filling out the sign-up form at the bottom of this page or contacting your sales representative directly. Once you've signed up, expect a prompt call or email from our team to confirm the specifics and guide you through the process. If you have any follow-up questions or do not hear back within two weeks, please email us at [email protected].

The enrollment process is quick and straightforward.

 

STep 2. Program Starter Pack, APPLICATION TRIAL and SAMPLES MANAGEMENT Abrir Cerrar

After receiving the necessary details, we'll dispatch a Starter Pack to the location of your choice containing a sample of one of our three live probiotic products and our program guide with instructions for application, sample collection, and labeling. You can fill out the printed sample submission form in the Starter Pack or use the online version.

Each ProStability Program Starter Pack also includes a pre-paid shipping label, making the return of your samples hassle-free.


Primarily designed for dry pet food kibbles, treats and supplement powder manufacturers from the USA and Canada, our program is adaptable. We're open to discussing the inclusion of other product formats based on your requirements and our consultation, as well as extending the program to other markets if feasible.


STEP 3. Prostability tested AND REPORTED BACK Abrir Cerrar

Upon receipt of your samples, our experts will commence the ProStability testing as soon as possible.

 

In Summary, our standard ProStability program includes:

  • up to two application trials testing for Colony Forming Units (CFU) recovery rate

  • one real-time stability testing to check for probiotic viability at three, nine, and eighteen months post-application at room temperature

  • one accelerated time stability testing at three months post-application at elevated temperature (for selected applications only)

  • ProStability Program interim reports within two weeks of test results availability at T0 (post-application timepoint), T3 (3 months viability), T9 (9 months viability), T12 (12 months viability)

  • complete final report detailing how our Live Probiotics performed in your unique pet product at the end of the program (after 18 months of testing, T18)

  • up to two hours of consultation with our probiotic application and stability experts will be available during the program

  • enrollment in the ProStability newsletter series, providing educational insights on the topic and other educational opportunities, like webinars.

Learn more about the probiotic stability in pet products


In general, the stability and viability of probiotics can be significantly impacted by species, temperature, and water activity. Spore-forming bacilli are hardier and show longer stability and viability than lactic acid bacteria (LAB).

Chr. Hansen's pet probiotics remain stable in their original packaging for up to 24 months and viable post-application on Dry Pet Food Kibble for up to 18 months (results might vary). 

The viability of probiotics in pet products (food, treats, supplements) depends largely on the specific characteristics of the product. Therefore, using a science-based approach, testing of viability post-application and during the product’s shelf-life will help ensure the right probiotic inclusion and data to support label guarantees.
