Antibiotics and contaminants

Test to secure quality

On arrival at the dairy, it is normally cost prohibitive to wait for hours before approving the milk. To address this, a series of rapid tests have been developed that can function as a screening test, offering a quick answer for the presence or absence of a few antibiotics groups, and thus enabling efficient decision making on whether to accept or reject the milk.

With a time-to-results of approximately five to ten minutes and typically detecting one to four drugs (or drug groups), rapid tests form the backbone of most dairy companies’ efforts in avoiding antibiotic residue contamination in milk.
