Antibiotic residues can have a negative influence on human health in terms of antibiotic resistance, allergy and hypersensitivity. Antibiotic residues also constitute a problem to the dairy industry because they can damage the production by inhibiting acidification and thus coagulation. For many years, antibiotics have been used for the treatment of infectious diseases, especially mastitis, in cows.
Dairies are becoming more aware of the dangers of antibiotic residues and consumers are pressing for purer dairy products. Chr. Hansen offers a complete range of high-sensitivity antibiotic test kits to prevent the negative effects of antibiotic residues and enhance process control in the cheese industry.
