In the video below Vice President, Innovation, Bénédicte Flambard describes how we go from idea to market at Chr. Hansen Innovation.
When a new project is initiated at Chr. Hansen our scientists take the project through the value chain - from idea to market. First, the project is defined, and the desired claims are decided on.
With the project defined work starts in the Chr. Hansen Culture Collection where selected strains undergo two screenings: In the first screening the strains that satisfy the high requirements of Chr. Hansen are chosen. These strains are then subjected to the second screening where we test the strains to see if their qualities match the specific project. In other words, do the strains have the intended effect?
The strains now move into pre-clinical and clinical trials, and the scientists start working on developing the right application for the final product - at this point we will have a good indication that our project will succeed.
A plan for the production process is developed, taking into account the safety requirements we have for all our probiotic products. While this is underway, the product moves into the final test: Human clinical studies. All of our products are proven efficient when ingested by humans.
After successful human studies our product is approved and production is underway – a new Chr. Hansen product type is ready for the market.
