About SiloSolve® AS 200

Most farmers experience heating of silage due largely to the growth of yeast and mold. Good management, including proper compaction, reduces the heat. However, some crops, such as maize, heat more often than other crops. Yeast and mold are fungi that grow well in the presence of oxygen.

Yeasts initiate the heating of silage and molds usually follow. Certain molds produce harmful mycotoxins. Mycotoxins may compromise production and health of animals.

Improves aerobic stability

SiloSolve® AS 200 is very effective in improving aerobic stability by reducing growth of yeast and mold in a variety of crops. The longer it takes silage to reach temperatures above the black line, as seen in the first figure, the more stable it is. Forages ensiled with SiloSolve® AS 200 are more stable than untreated silage.

SiloSolve® AS 200 reduces ethanol and ammonia

SiloSolve® AS 200 consistently reduces ethanol and ammonia in silage to help improve silage quality. Ammonia concentration is an important quality parameter in silage because it reflects the amount of protein being degraded during fermentation. High ammonia content also results in less palatable silage.

Documented benefits of SiloSolve® AS 200

A rapid pH reduction after sealing is important. It is also important to maintain a low pH value after opening the silo because this will inhibit growth of spoilage microorganisms. In trials, SiloSolve® AS 200 was shown to improve aerobic stability and maintain a lower pH - even after aerobic exposure. SiloSolve® AS 200 maintained a low pH throughout the trials, whereas the untreated silage had unacceptably high pH after opening.

SiloSolve® AS contains two fast growing and competitive lactic acid bacteria and a unique strain of Lactobacillus buchneri. This specific bacterial strain combination improves fermentation processes and inhibits yeast and mold growth resulting in improved aerobic stability at feed out.

Use:

Contents of one 200 g sachet are added to 20-200 liters of water, corresponding to 0.2-2 liters/ton fresh forage. Recommended dose = 250,000 cfu/g fresh forage.
