Probiotic milk boosts the immune system

New research demonstrates that the health benefits of probiotics extend far beyond digestion alone. Therefore Mayfield Dairy Farms is now replacing their probiotic milk NuTrish, which has been marketed since 1987, with a new product called Nurture.

A working partnership that works

 “I don’t even know how long Mayfield Dairy Farms has been working with Chr. Hansen. As long as I can remember,” says Scottie Mayfield. 

For years Chr. Hansen has provided Mayfield Dairy Farms with cultures to make buttermilk and frozen yogurt.  In 1987, Chr. Hansen began to provide Mayfield Dairy Farms with probiotic cultures for milk.

“We appreciate the work we have done together with Hansen. When we introduced NuTrish back in 1987, Chr. Hansen quickly understood that we were the type of company that would want to be first with something like that. Hansen showed us the latest research and worked with us on NuTrish then, and Nurture now,” explains Mayfield.

New probiotics for the US market

 In general, Mayfield has a positive outlook on the potential of probiotics on the US market. This is also why Mayfield Dairy Farms is considering  their next move on the market.

 “We are going to have to decide what other products we would like to be able to offer in a probiotic version. Perhaps our ice cream is next? Anyway, here Chr. Hansen can help us innovate again, by continuously informing us about new opportunities in the world of functional ingredients,” Mayfield concludes.
