My job

I collaborate with our scientists on the development and testing of bacteria cultures. Over the years I have participated in a number of challenging projects - from the development of a cell culture platform on laboratory scale to DNA and RNA Molecular Biology procedures and a range of basic research and analysis methods. Today, my job mainly consists of running comparative survival testing of our probiotic bacteria cultures during human digestion.

My responsibilities

Chr. Hansen has recently invested in an artificial gut – an advanced computer-controlled laboratory model which accurately simulates the varying conditions of the human stomach and gut during digestion. During the last year, I have been responsible for testing the performance of our probiotic products in the gastro-intestinal environment of the simulator.
Every week I set up a number of trials, perform the testing, screen the results and prepare the protocol to the scientists. Being responsible for the entire work flow in product testing gives me a better technical and scientific understanding of the way Chr. Hansen manages its R&D activities. I also participate in meetings and decision-making influencing my area of responsibility.

My motivation

Working with innovative and state-of-the-art technologies and being involved in all the phases from basic research to production is highly challenging. My most important motivation is the opportunity to work independently with a variety of different tasks and a high degree of responsibility.  To me employment with Chr. Hansen has been a continuous professional development where I have been trained in a new techniques and analysis methods. Today, I feel acknowledged as an expert in lab work which is important for the self confidence as well as my personal development.

We have flexible working hours, and the opportunity to plan my own working schedule is a must in managing the fine balance between family and working life.
