Chr. Hansen's products are eaten by 500 million people the world over - every day! If Chr. Hansen does not tightly control food safety, it can have dire consequences. Fortunately, Chr. Hansen has the situation under control.

We have the sharpest possible focus on quality control, product safety and security at every stage of our activities. This is the case all the way from raw-material selection, surveillance of suppliers and production, to packaging, distribution and application at our customers' premises.

Living up to standards

The quality management system is based on the ISO 9001: 2000 standard. The majority of the products produced by Chr. Hansen worldwide is managed in accordance with ISO 9001. Furthermore a large part of the products produced by Chr. Hansen comply with the environmental management standard ISO 14001.

Good Manufacturing Practice and HACCP

Chr. Hansen has developed and implemented a set of rules for Good Manufacturing Practice (CH Food GMP rules) at all production sites.

To further ensure the highest level of product safety and security Chr. Hansen has implemented the Hazard analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) methodology and security requirements based on the Chr. Hansen Food GMP rules. As a consequences a large and increasing number of production sites are certified in accordance with the Food Safety Management Standar ISO 22000: 2005.
